The Spreewald is a UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve southeast of Berlin. Its forested areas and wetlands are crossed by canals fed by the Spree River.
Summer is a popular holiday time and places book up quickly, so it’s best to reserve sooner rather than later. Most places have a minimum stay of 2-3 nights. Here are a few of our recommendations.
We also recommend renting a car to get around, as ride sharing is hard to come by in this area.
Note: If you would like to find a holiday apartment not listed here, look for “Ferienwohnung” or “Pension” in Burg or Vetschau.

Potsdam was the residence of the Prussian kings and German Kaisers until 1918. It is the site of the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage Site in Germany.
The city is now the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg and a home to three public colleges and a major film production studio.
Accessible by train from the city, Potsdam is a beautiful area to visit full of lakes, parks, and palaces. We recommend doing a biking, walking, or boat tour! See below for helpful links.
